I took my Health Tech class (well, 4 of my girls) to Bandon on Friday to celebrate Earth Day. Our plan had been to do a beach sweep, and provide a service to Mother Nature. However, much to our surprise and to our delight, we found a perfectly clean beach, not a sign of garbage anywhere!! That left a lot of time to simply play in the surf, bask on the sand, and enjoy the smells and sounds of our beautiful Pacific Ocean.
The day was absolutely amazing, a truly superb day of sun and breeze and that salty sea air. I had almost forgotten how incredibly cold the waves are as they break over my feet, and how fast the hem of my capris could be soaked while my eyes peered through the viewing lens of a camera! It was good to be reminded...of how good it feels to wriggle your toes in the cold wet sand, of how free I feel with my hair blowing in the sea breeze. It was amazing to look at the colors of the rocks, and the textures of the driftwood, and to once again have my breath taken away by the sheer awesomeness of the this planet God has given us. Yes, it is good to be reminded.
