Sometimes, it's the little things in life that make me happy. I was watching the Minnesota Twins take on the Detroit Tigers today, and a young just-called-up-to-the-big-league player from Australia, Luke Hughes, on his very first MLB at-bat, HIT A HOME RUN!!! You could not have wiped the smile from his face! I'm not 100% sure his feet actually touched the ground as he rounded the bases.
But that's not all that made me smile. No sirree!! I loved seeing the grin on teammate Jim Thome's face as the HR-hitting giant hugged the rookie. :~) I loved the fact that the fan who had the ball threw it back onto the field so that Hughes would have a tangible memory of that moment. :~) I love the fact, according to the announcers, that the Tiger outfielder assured the young fan that he would get him another game ball for a keepsake. :~) And, of course, I loved watching Joe Mauer behind the plate...the perfect speciman of ball-catching sexiness!!
Can you say "Minnesota Twins Fan"? :~)
